PURE ITHMID EYE KOHL ( surma)
The Ithmid Kohl/Surma is the best type of kohl / surma to be used for the eyes. This is because it has been personally used and praised by Prophet Muhammad (saws), who was inspired by Allah swt .
Benefits of Ithmid Kohl / Surma for the eyes
1. Ithmid kohl cleanses the eyes of harmful substances. This includes dirt, dust, germs as well as other chemicals which can harm your eyes in the long term.
2. As stated by the Prophet (saws)ithmid kohl/surma both maintains and improves eye sight. This is due to its eye cleansing and detoxification effects.
3. Ithmid kohl /surma grows eye lashes and makes them longer and this in turn acts to protect the eyes from dirt particles and other harmfull things.
All of these benefits are confirmed by authentic hadiths from the Prophet (saws).
Kohl was originally used as protection against eye ailments . There was also a belief that darkening around the eyes would protect one from the harsh rays of the sun.
According to Islam the use of a particular type of kohl is thought to be healing and used for medicinal purposes for both men and women. This is based on the following saying by the Prophet Muhammed s.a.w.s., : “One of the best kinds of kohl that you use is Ithmid (antimony); it brightens the vision and makes the hair (eye-lashes) grow.
It is more beneficial to apply kohl at the time of sleeping as it will remain longer in the eyes, and will penetrate more into the pores. There are different narrations on the number of times it should be applied in each eye. In a few it is stated that it should be applied three times in each eye, as mentioned above.
Ibn ‘Abbaas Radiyallahu ‘Anhu said :”Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wa sallam said: “Use kuhl made of ithmid , it brightens the eyesight, and strengthens and increases the growth of the eye lashes “. Sayyidina Ibn’Abbaas Radiyallahu’Anhu also used to say: “ Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam had a small container for keeping kohl, from which he applied kohl in each eye three times every night .
Ibn Al Qayyim (r.a) suggests that use of a kohl, Ithmid, also helps reduce skin flap growing on the eyelid, mange of the eyelids and it relaxes eyestrain. It helps detoxify eye moisture and eases congestion in tear ducts. It helps natural cleansing of the eyes and helps to protect the eyes from dust particles floating in the air, and brightens one’s sight. When Ithmid is mixed with honey diluted in water and applied on the edge of the eyelid, it can help reduce headaches.
Due to these true statements from the Prophet saws , that usage of this ithmid surma grows the hair , lashes its a proof that it can be used to grow hair as well on particular places when the hair gets thinner by penetrating the root of the hair , it makes it stronger and helps the hair to grow back again . Apply surma at the spots you want to grow hair back and massage it for 5 min , do it every night before going to sleep to allow ithmid to stay longer and to get benefit from it . Leave it all night and wash it in a morning . Doing it every night in sha Allah you will see fasster results .
But do it with belief that if Allah swt gave it to a Prophet saws , as a medicine for eyes to strengthen the eyesight to grow the hair , the eyelashes , then it is a truth , there is a hadith that can be compared to use of any medicine or cure that Prophet saws recommended that we must obey and believe in it because Allah is the One Who cures and gave cure for every desease exept death .
Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri:
A man came to the Prophet saws, and said :” My brother has some abdominal pain “.
The Prophet (saws)said to him :”Let him drink honey."
The man came for the second time and the Prophet (saws)said to him: “Let him drink honey." He came for the third time and the Prophet (saws)said :”Let him drink honey."
He returned again and said :” I have done that”.
The Prophet (saws)then said : ” Allah (swt) has said the truth, but your brother's abdomen has told a lie. Let him drink honey."
So he made him drink honey and he was cured.
